DECAMAG was originally founded by a group of people in 2004 who identified a need for a centralised dedicated Driver Training Centre and Motorsports Precinct.

They officially became an association in 2006, and filed for Incorporation of an Association with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading in 2007.
